¶ Overview
The Standard compound is the most basic set of dry weather tires. If the Select Starting Tires modifier is disabled and the weather conditions at the start of the race are sufficiently dry, then these tires will be put on every car.
Finishing a race on the podium after running at least 2 stints on this compound from lights to flag awards you with the 
Standards Expert achievement.

These tires don't offer any special effects.
¶ Strategy and Management
- Picking
Tire Grip and 
Downforce upgrades early can make up for the Acceleration and Cornering performance deficit respectively. - For this reason, it's generally best to avoid choosing this compound from the first pit stop onwards (or at all if Starting Tires Selection is enabled), unless you're aiming to obtain the aforementioned achievement.
